Your thoughts please.

Rootles out resources!
My Great Grandfather Frederick was illigitimate, I have his birth certificate, his bapstisms (he was baptised by his mother Sarah and his grandparents whom he went to live with without his mother) and the records from the workhouse where he was born. His father's name is not mentioned on any of the records. On Frederick's marriage he gives his father's name as John which was his Grandfather's name, whom he may have considered his father or did know he wasn't.

So, possibly finding out who Frederick's father was is part of the reason I had a DNA test done (I understand it could take forever or even never). So, I have subscribed to Anc. again this year and I've updated my tree. I have his father as Unknown and Anc. has given me suggestions for Unknown's parents. They are shown as 'potential father George and mother Sarah, shared DNA origins.' They are Frederick's paternal Great Grandparents.

Am I right in thinking that the suggestion is that an Uncle of Sarah's could be Frederick's father? I have soooo much to learn about this DNA stuff  :D
Absolutely any thoughts are welcome.

You may be right - or not. They were out there & such things did happen. Have you tried to find 'Fredericks' family lines?
Remember Ancestry's 'suggestions' are taken largely from other peoples trees, & they also may have taken theirs from others trees. "If it looks good- grab it"

Sorry Lass but you have more researching to do before you hit the right button for proof. Have you uploaded to GedCom? Every little bit helps & they have some very helpful tools. Some-one out there also has a connection to your G.Gt.G'father Frederick. Let's hope they also want to know things & have done a DNA test.
Goodest luck your way ;)

I agree with Wendy, those people do match you as they are descended from the same people as you, but the suggestion is taken from what some people, have put in their trees combined with theirs and it could have just filled in the gap

I would suggest that to test the Uncle theory trying to find a group of matches on your great grandfather's line but who don't match George and Sarah's branch would be the way to go. If you find their common ancestor together is about the right generation to be Frederick's grandparents or great grandparents it could be the way to getting a clue to his father. For how to do this you could try watching this video on Rootstech by Diahan Southard

In case that link doesn't work it's https://www.
