Perhaps a contact with the cemetery officials might shed some light. I received some great information from the cemetery secretary where one of my several greats was buried.
I have no idea who that would be. I think the local council deals with our cemetery. I will ask Jim when I see him Friday night, he may know. Thanks Jan.
Maybe not Robert's mother, then. Meanwhile, I've found a possible death: KALPAXIDOU Helene - 75 - Bromley - 5A ... The original page number was 493, but this has been crossed out and a handwritten number inserted: 318/S, or possibly 378/S I'm not sure what that means, particularly the "/S" bit.
Ah yes, the same one as AnnB found in #6 That's the link MollyMay, it must be a family grave. E Radnor RD covers my town
There is a death reg for Nina Evans age 42 Dec. qtr 1950 Merthyr T 8b 375 (there are a few others but this one looks the nearest in age to Robert) Could Nina be the third person in the grave and Helene a sister?
It's a strange grave. Large white marble, Helen is on the left side and Robert on the right. The one in the middle has no inscription.
I thought for a moment you were talking burial plts bu if it's the death register perhaps the 'S' is for substitute or similar. I know when keyiing for FreeBMD we found lots of similar changes & add ons in the original registery pages..
Page numbers for Deaths 1969 Mar for district Bromley. Click on the Page to show the entries. The expected page range for this district is 379 to 584; pages outside this range may be in error. page,318/s - occurances, 1= Deaths Mar 1969 KALPAXIDSOU HELENE 75 BROMLEY 5A-318/s
I think sometimes a letter might refer to an entry in another quarter, but I couldn't see anything relevant under that surname in Sep 1969. Maybe it is something like Supplementary Pages, or some kind of correction to the original registration?
After a search for the surname I came up with the following death notice - a marriage in the Nottingham district in Dec qtr 1949 seems to relate: Code: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/95994/faulder This gives one of the names already mentioned in this thread as a sibling of the deceased, and names their parents as "Theodore and Eleni Kalpaxidou, of Trapezounda and Athens".
This is getting confusing... Which "she" are we talking about? The memorial mentions Elena, who died in 1969, and we think she was Robert's mother-in-law. The death notice I found was for Elly, who died in 2009, and this Elly had a sister Nina and parents Theodore and Eleni. This appears to make her Robert's sister-in-law. Is that any clearer?? Next question: who is in the third grave? That may be one for the cemetery office.
