Thanks but not really. We need to see the whole page but I cant get to NSW convict reports because I don't have a sub to A. If she was a Tasmanian convict that would be different. So a name would help us tremendously. It looks like that image is from the indent book anyway and not the conduct book. It will let us know what we need to know. Where convicted, place of birth, etc.

I'm confused over the "M,H,B & S" - is it definitely "Mother, Husband, Brother & Sister" ?
If so, "mother" infers the subject in the document is the children, confirmed by the use of "brother & sister".
However, "husband" (as opposed to "F" = father) throws that out.

If the subject is the mother, "husband" makes sense but why not "S" = son and "D" = daughter ?
Or am I totally wrong and this is a common (but strange) format ?
Where does Elizabeth come into it ?

I think it is Ar as the 2nd letter is a match for the r in Greenwich. Sadly it really is scribbled.

Could you tell us what year she was transported please . Could you share her name?

sorry should have said her name is Elizabeth Webb nee Mahony/ey and she was transported on the Emma Eugenia on 25 Oct 1850 ..........to Van dieman's land. on records I have she is supposed to have been born in Ireland and that is down on some records but the convict record it says Deptford which was where they were living at the time.
There are a number of incorrect trees on Ancestry as to her parents and she was a bit of a fibber so whether her fathers name on her marriage to William Webb in 1838 is John Mahoney a farmer I am not sure, she doesn't mention a father on the image I posted.........she remarried as they so often do in 1854 to another convict Edward Dyer......she left 4 children in Britain and had another 5 in Australia and was only 48 when she died!

Could it be Catherine in Armagh, [Ireland] and whoever completed the document wrote it phonetically.

One thing which makes me think it isn't America is that the person who wrote it seems quite particular about dotting the letter 'i' - and there is no dot over any letter in the word.

Looking at it again, and the rest of the page, there may be something in what you both say. There's also Ormeau near Belfast.

Ormeau looks like that could be the word we are after. She was convicted at Central Criminal Court so she should be found on Old Bailey online records. That's all good news now that she went to Tassie.

If it is Ormeau on the record does that mean her mother may have been transported? there are a lot of Catherine Mahoney transportations must be after Elizabeths birth at least........I love my 3 x gran but she do keep my brain cells busy

That's the one. I found the original and tells me nothing really. If Deptford is her native place then Deptford is what they were told when she was transported. The word Ormeau looks almost about right but may not be. If her mother was transported then the record would state that but it says Ormeau???? She probably was in contact with her mother and family before conviction and the authorities have to know anyway in case something happened to her during her sentence. No idea why her husband wasn't mentioned though.
Also her father isn't mentioned on the record probably because he was deceased. You seem to have all her life here so maybe we should look around elsewhere, although with a name of Mahoney I don't like our chances.
