The 'C' in Cain is different though.Could this place begin with a 'C'?
check it against the 'G' in Greenwich, not that anything immediately comes to mind.

And there was me thinking you were a delicate little flower.....No it didn't. I thought it was quite funny actually. I do have rather thick skin.![]()
On the contrary. Any suggestion could lead to an answer.I will add my halfpennysworth. I think the last letter is 'e', looking at the last letter of Caroline. So we have Au ? e
Not much use I know![]()
We all have our delicate daysAnd there was me thinking you were a delicate little flower.....
I'm sure it begins with an 'A'....
Cooking dinner, but if no one else has had a look when I'm done will see what I can find.We need to see the whole page but I cant get to NSW convict reports because I don't have a sub to A
sorry should have said her name is Elizabeth Webb nee Mahony/ey and she was transported on the Emma Eugenia on 25 Oct 1850 ..........to Van dieman's land. on records I have she is supposed to have been born in Ireland and that is down on some records but the convict record it says Deptford which was where they were living at the time.Could you tell us what year she was transported please . Could you share her name?
Could it be Catherine in Armagh, [Ireland] and whoever completed the document wrote it phonetically.
Looking at it again, and the rest of the page, there may be something in what you both say. There's also Ormeau near Belfast. One thing which makes me think it isn't America is that the person who wrote it seems quite particular about dotting the letter 'i' - and there is no dot over any letter in the word.
That's the one. I found the original and tells me nothing really. If Deptford is her native place then Deptford is what they were told when she was transported. The word Ormeau looks almost about right but may not be. If her mother was transported then the record would state that but it says Ormeau???? She probably was in contact with her mother and family before conviction and the authorities have to know anyway in case something happened to her during her sentence. No idea why her husband wasn't mentioned though.sorry sue what records do you mean I have quite a few but they don't give a lot of different details there is this one gives a bit more, have marriages (2) and childrens births View attachment 5945
