Same person?

Sis

Rootles out resources!
I would like people's opinion as to whether these signatures are of the same person please.

The first one was when he was about 25 years old and the second, if it's him, when he was about 63 years old. Sorry but the first one is about as clear as I can get it.

I would say 'yes'
The first 'o's (Jonas) and the 'd's. To me, they are the giveaway.
He is very wobbly for a 63 year old though.

My initial thought based on the surname is that they're not the same, but who knows what 38 years of wear and tear could do?

Is there any possibility of larger images, please? (xx years of wear and tear on the visual apparatus at this end) Or can we find them online anywhere?

Both marriages are on Ancestry. This first one is Jonas Goodwin to Mary Riley 28 March 1796 at St Mary, Lambeth.

This one is at the same church but it is Jonas Goodwin to Mary Woods 10 February 1834

I would say yes, definitely.

It's an older person, but the same hand. Probably like me, couldn't remember where he'd left his reading glasses.

I tend to agree with Arthur in that the surname looks somewhat different but, 38 years down the line, who knows how infirm he may have been. What dates are we talking about, Sis?

Janet

Sorry cross posted, so we now have the dates. Still not completely sure though.

Adding to that, several health conditions can make handwriting an almost impossible chore, my own Mannie has photographic I.D. at the bank due to changing handwriting.

Yes, I have those thank you AM. I'm pretty sure that's him. He did a Printer's apprenticeship and I've got him in Bloomberg Street in the Westminster Rate Books from 1832 to '1857'. The only thing is that I can only find a death for a Jonas Goodwin, age 85, in Westminster district in '1856'. The age and area fit so I've just ordered it. Lets hope just maybe it will throw some sort of light on it all, who knows!

Just received the Death PDF (within 5 working days!). It's the right Jonas Goodwin as the address is the same as in the Westminster Rate books and the age is right. It has confirmed also that at least the second signature in post #1 (marriage to Mary Woods) is my Jonas as the informant is a Frederick Woods, (https://genealogy-specialists.com/threads/frederick-goodwin-born-c-1825.8618/). For some reason known only to who know's who, I didn't look for Frederick under the surname Woods. Anyway that's another story!:D

His Cause of Death was.... Decay of Nature. Don't you just love the way they spoke!;)
