Don't apologise Philippa, I'm all for honesty, thank you.I'm in the "hmmmmm" camp.
The first signature makes me think of someone who isn't comfortable writing, the second shows much more confidence and familiarity.
Certainly possible, but still "hmmmm". (Sorry)

My thoughts were along that line too, but I wanted others opinions. I will know for sure, hopefully, when I get her death certificate. So fingers crossed.I think its the same person. Is there any reason to believe it may not be?
Just a much more mature Sarah I think.
).Thank you MM. I've been thinking about this and I think I'm just wanting it to be her.I am in the no camp - sorry. There are no kicks on the 'S' or the 'h' in the second signature. The 'o' in Rison looks different to the one in Porter, but the 'P' does look like the 'R'.
Perhaps someone else signed the 1911 for her (trying to be positive).
I hope the d/c proves me wrong![]()

Mine too Ann and a good point, thank you.I'm very much on the fence here, parts look the same, others look so different. My writing has changed over the years, but it's got worse, not better![]()

The 1911 example looks more fluent (an extra 35 years' practice?), but you could argue that the 'r' is worse (less well-formed) because the increased speed has led to the curly bit at the top being missed off.The one stumbling block I have is that the formation of the "r" is so different in the two signatures and whether that would change so significantly over the years is a moot point. So I am with Ann on this and am sitting on the fence somewhat!
A difficult one. My signature and general writing style changed a fair bit mid 20's to around 50.
