Hi - I have emailed you a picture of Harold. You were correct in William Herbert and Cecil being the children of William Abraham Hodges and Sarah Amelia Mason. She was known as Leila and died of consumption on 8/11/1876 . William Herbert, known as Bertie, was born in 1873 and Cecil in 1875.

 

Thank you for the picture - I have sent you 'something' that will be of interest on 11 November.

 

I did wonder where Cecil got the name Leila for his 1st born - now I know. Thank you

 

Hello Meg. My name is Rick Dizon and I am a volunteer researcher with the Heritage group at Trent Bridge , home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. This year, 100 years after the end of World War 1, the club is hoping to commemorate the 6 former players who died in the conflict. One of the players was Captain Harold Augustus Hodges (1886-1918 ) who was the brother of your grandfather Reginald John Hodges. The club wishes to invite relatives of the 6 men to the commemoration ( no date has yet been set) and I'm hoping you can acknowledge my message with a reply.
