Oldest Schoolmaster 1928

It's only 3 miles away Sue, could have walked it, but have you seen the hills in Wales :eek:

Years ago we watched a movie about a hill in Wales that was just a bit to short to be a mountain so the townsfolk carted all this dirt to the top to get it to qualify as a mountain. Sorry I can't remember the name and if I could I wouldn't be able to spell it :)

This is my attempt at the will - there is a Probatum in Latin (I did not try that). Please correct as you see fit. I have had a go at place names, they could be wrong. - is a word I could not decipher

Wondering about this, Chimp?
1851, Kilgerran, HO107; Piece: 2481; Folio: 268; Page: 6;
Maria Davies 53, widow, annuitant, Kilgerran
David Davies 15, pupil teacher, Kilgerran

There's a marriage which could be a possible for young David's parents
10 July 1828, Cilgerran
David Davies of Nevern to Maria Reece [sic]

Yep, I know it says David Davies not Davis Davies, but it could be a misheard name.

I thought I had him in 1861 but not sure now. It was reported that he became headmaster of Talybont school in 1858, but can't seem to find him.

Sorry Moo but that was my fault. It should read David Davies and not Davis Davies. Sometimes I think I was born with more than my share of stupidity :D

Well, S and D are next to each other on the keyboard so an easy mistake to make. By good fortune I was searching for Davi? Davi*

I think the marriage looks promising, a pity there doesn't seem to be a baptism though. I did come across a possible sibling - Elizabeth (1829) Cilgerran

slippery digits more like Chimp. That's why I have so many edits after having -I thought- proof read my posts. My fingers move faster than my other bits.

That's great Moo, Thank you again ;)
Maybe it doesn't say Caernarvon (appalling writing), but the county is Glamorganshire.
Could it be Carmarthen maybe.
