Oldest Schoolmaster 1928

it's not too bad I could give it a go tomorrow ... (I will hopefully do better than at my last attempt to transcribe a will )

 

Years ago we watched a movie about a hill in Wales that was just a bit to short to be a mountain so the townsfolk carted all this dirt to the top to get it to qualify as a mountain. Sorry I can't remember the name and if I could I wouldn't be able to spell it

 

This is my attempt at the will - there is a Probatum in Latin (I did not try that). Please correct as you see fit. I have had a go at place names, they could be wrong. - is a word I could not decipher

I Anna Childs wife of Baron William Childs of Kinlet in the county of Salop Knight being somewhat indisposed in body but thanks to God of sound and perfect mind and memory so make and ordain this my last will and testament in mannor and forme following and first and foremost my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Heavenly Father resulting in and through the - of Jesus Christ to bestow full pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to be made partaker of those celestial - which he hath placed at his right hand for all such as love and fear his holy name who? by virtue of a power - to me by Indentures of Release bearing date the sixth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and eighty five and of all other powers and right enabling me hereunto I do give appoint and dispose of all the Manours lands messuages tenements and - in the said indentures - and all my other Manor(superscript letter) messuages lands tenements and - to the reverend DoctorTyler dean of Hereford James organ of Hereford esqr Thomas Childs of Kinlet aforesaid esqr and Thomas Jobber of Aston in the county of Salop gent and their issue to the use of them and their issue in trust that by the rents - and - and by - mortage or sale of all or any of the said methods to - and pay the overall(?) summes of money herein after given and disposed of (that is to say)the summes of twenty pounds apiece to each and every of the said trustees. Item I give and appoint the sum of five hundred pound pounds to be put out to interest and - for the maintenance of a schoolmaster to teach and instruct the youth of this severall(?) parishes of Pilloth and Whitton in the County of Radnor and also to place out apprentice two youths of the said parishes yearly for ever. Item I give unto my dear mother a ring with two hands clasped to remember her that I did not forget my dear fathers dying commands and I define(?) her to accept of ten pound to buy her mourning. Item to my dear friend and husband the said Sn Baron William Childs one thousand pounds. Item to my dear noire Mrs - Morgan six hundred pounds. And it is my - that my said trustees shall convey what part of my said estate shall remain unsold (after my said legacies are paid and discharged) and to pay the residue of the money that shall be so raised after the payment of the said legacies to my dearest nephew - Thomas Morgan of Kinnersley (?) in the county of Hereford (?) Baronet. And Lastly I do hereby constitute and ordain my said dear friend the said - Baron William Childs full and whole executor of this my last will and testament to whom I doo give and dispose all my every goods and chattels whatsoever of what kind nature or quality the same - of and I doo hereby make null and void all former wills made by me and do publish and declare that this - writing contained in two sheets of paper written on one side only. Witnesses whose of I have to said sheets sett my hand and to this last affixed my seal the seventh day of May in the second year of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Queen Ann by the grace of God of England etc. Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and three. Item I giva as a testimony of my thankfullness to my dr noire Mrs Anne Morgan for her care of me the sum of one hundred ginneys added to that sum above named. Item to my servant Elinor Calow five pounds whith said summes I have given after the writing of my said will before the sealing of it. this is my attempt at Dame Anna's Will (I couldn't wait after all despite what I said above), added to that of MollyMay who got in before me , I also think she was a lovely lady and I enjoyed her Will very much-- here goes:

I think the marriage looks promising, a pity there doesn't seem to be a baptism though. I did come across a possible sibling - Elizabeth (1829) Cilgerran

 

slippery digits more like Chimp. That's why I have so many edits after having -I thought- proof read my posts. My fingers move faster than my other bits.
