I'm a new member called John and I live in Buckinghamshire in the UK, about 25 miles west of London. Bucks is a very leafy county, although not at this time of year!
I've been a genealogy addict for several years now, having acquired the habit from my wife. I'm still a member of another forum which used to be sponsored by Parish Chest - you know the one, I see some of you on there! At times that forum looks just like a normal genealogy forum; then, quite often, there seems to be a military coup and civilian activities appear to be under curfew. Anyway, I've been lurking here for a bit and thought I'd join up. Thanks for letting me in!
I'm also a member of several groups on Yahoo and have done some transcribing for FreeREG. I'm currently plucking up courage to tackle the earliest (and least legible) of the parish registers of Weston Zoyland in Somerset. My own family history spreads over much of the southern half of England and Wales, from Carmarthenshire to Kent and Warwickshire down to Dorset. Quite a few brickwalls, too, which I'll acquaint you with from time to time.
Having retired a few years ago, I should have plenty of time for family history (and other things). Does anyone else find themselves wondering where the day has gone..............?
