I've been meaning to ask how you went in the fires.
Did you get evacuated?
My sister was packed and ready but all was OK in the end at her house.

This was an extremely scary time for us all.
One of the fire fronts was only 2 streets away and coming in our direction. We were hosing our house down ready for any ember attacks. What saved us was the 747 that came and dumped the fire retardant plus Elvis the helicopter, then the wind changed in a southerly direction. Soon after, day turned to night with a strong orange eerie glow and the air was like acid.
With the second weather warnings a few days later, we evacuated to a friends place a little closer to the beach.
Hats off to all that were involved in trying to save lives and homes, we were one of the lucky ones, so many weren't.
It has been a horrible year, hoping for a better one next!!
