Help In Reading

Morning all sorry not to have replied before but I have been under the weather and have been keeping up using my Kindle but it really didn't want to play to reply to posts
Thank you for all your sugestions

Well I did think that, but having seen Mealymoo's post #14 I am now more inclined to think it is Hallewel.

P.S. if the Whitton parish registers are among the Lincolnshire registers added to FMP it might be interesting to get a second opinion from there. But remember that we aren't allowed to post images from FMP (indeed I think we would be breaking their Terms & Conditions if we divulged any information that one would have to pay to see).

Thank you for that :( my subscription to FMP has just lapsed so will have to go to the library to check up as Ancestry don't seem to have anything for Whitton

Not sure if this will help but this is the full page
Think I might have to get back to Lincoln Archives and plow through the pages see if I can find a birth for Elizabeth. The only problem with that was they were not in date order the last time I looked but fingers crossed I might find something

Thank you for that image, which seems clearer. I am now fairly confident that the mystery surname is hallewel (see enlargement below).

P.S. sorry, having trouble inserting the image here. Will keep trying.

I think you could be right your picture is much better than mine going by wife and William in other places it looks the same
Why oh why couldn't the write clearly didn't they know we would want to read it 300+ years later

Just spent an hour on this, doing various things with the image, will keep trying. Hate to give up with stuff like this. I think I may have a way of making the text clearer, but wont be able to give it a go until Monday.
Please can someone let me know if the mystery is ever solved. :)

I can save you a trip, your date for Whitton is not covered.

Brilliant! I can see it now -- still not sure I would have been able to read it without already 'knowing' what it said though ... a bit like the time I tried to learn to read arabic :(
