Wolverhampton St George’s Parish Register 1834-1903 Marriages.
25/12/1872
John Goodman, shingler of Wharf Street, father William Goodman, Brewer and Mary Joan Hill 19 spinster father John Hill, Miller.
I know your mystery occupation isn’t ‘brewer’ but could this be him 30 years later?

It could indeed as at various times on the census he is listed as an Iron worker or Brewer
Oops, sorry meant to hit like.
I e been doing some research on the Black Country, doesn’t sound like a nice place way back then, however as he was an iron worker and there was an anchor and chain industry there, I wonder if that word could be chain maker. The last letter doesn’t look like an n but the pencil could have slipped.
