Wolverhampton St George’s Parish Register 1834-1903 Marriages. 25/12/1872 John Goodman, shingler of Wharf Street, father William Goodman, Brewer and Mary Joan Hill 19 spinster father John Hill, Miller. I know your mystery occupation isn’t ‘brewer’ but could this be him 30 years later?
Oops, sorry meant to hit like. I e been doing some research on the Black Country, doesn’t sound like a nice place way back then, however as he was an iron worker and there was an anchor and chain industry there, I wonder if that word could be chain maker. The last letter doesn’t look like an n but the pencil could have slipped.
I think I might change my mind. As he is living with the Worralls he may be their male servant. So I am now with Ann. Servant M (male) The Worralls were quite well off.
It does look a little like Servant, the census image on Ancestry is a lot cleaner than the one you posted but still no clear indication what it is
Thanks @HullMan. I’m more certain now that he is a servant. By the way...welcome lovely to have you join us.
Yes, @HullMan, the image on Ancestry is much clearer - thanks for that. I'm now going with 'Servt M'.
