help with my Hextalls

Found Eyre Yard in 1901 but no James and Emma there, perhaps they are nearby! It's the right area, very near the other addresses James gives on records.
RG13; PN 3170; F 71; P 7.

Could be James wasn't christened/ registered as 'James'?

anything with this family is possible but haven't been able to find any Hextall or variations for this birth date...........even though it will take a while am going to try the Nottingham record office see if they can find it .......I know sometimes the GRO records are missing.

I've been trying, Grizel, but not having any luck locating it!
I found 1 eyre yard in the 1901 census online address search, st alban parish, southern division Nottingham if that helps!

edit - sorry missed your reply - too bad they weren't there.

You've probably seen census returns including Emma Hextall, living Notts born London.

1871:RG 10; PN 3487; F 46; P 10
1881:RG 11; PN 3330; F 30; P 54

I am at present doing my friends tree, some of her family are from Nottinghamshire and some from Ireland...........I thought Ireland would be hard but no found all easily but Nottingham is proving very difficult.

Her father was James Hextall born 1926 sent for birth and found parents James Hextall and Hilda Amanda Clarke. After searching in Vain I sent for their marriage cert which turned out to have James name down as Exall!
11 Apr 1925 James Exall 24years Engineer fitter father James Exall iron turner
Register office Nottingham.
searched all over nothing then I found his service record on FMP which said date of birth
6th April 1901 Sneiton Nottingham...........I have scoured GRO records for the 2nd qtr and FMP and Ancestry no sign .....cant find him in 1911 either on his RAF records it says
his mother is Mrs Emma Hextall......34 Moody street, Carlton Rd, Nottingham
cant find her either!!!!!!!!!

Any ideas gratefully accepted...........will try Nottingham Records but search takes 4-5 weeks apparently.
Sandie - Is your friend's grandfather the James Hextall who died in Nottingham dist, Jun Q 1968? Or is that a different James? This James was recorded as 65 at death giving a dob of 1903 and so possibly the James Exhall b 1903 mentioned in post #9.

yes did wonder if she as a single mum might be a candidate but as only Emma in 1901 fitting b London had moved to Leicester to be a Mental Nurse I discounted her

I have got this death as a possible but guess I will have to send for cert to be sure

right I now have the birth certificate for James Exhall born 1903 and it looks like the right one naughty boy lied to get in Army........cert says
6th February 1903 James Exhall son of James Exhall fitters labourer and mother
Emma Jane Exhall formerly Hough address given 33 Stanhope Street Nottingham.
Only problem now is I still cant find any of them in 1901 or 1911 what am I missing? there also doesn't appear to be a marriage......ahhhhhhhh!! help!

This doesn't help, but there is a good picture of Stanhope Street in 1910 here> (the church in the distance is St Mary's in the Lace Market)
