Help!

Looking at the birth of their children and the time span between the births.

upload_2019-11-2_18-50-36.png

It seems a long time between the birth of William and Winifred. I mean couples usually have a few children in succession at the start of their marriage and then it tails off later.

I wonder if they had William and went to Cardiff to register him as down there no one would know that they weren't married and married in the years between William and Winifred.

There is this possibility:-

JOHN JONES on the same page MARGARET PRICE
Marriage quarter: 4
Marriage year: 1897
District Pontypridd
Volume: 11A
Page number: 873

Thoughts?

I found that marriage earlier and thought the same as you. I thought I had posted it as a suggestion, but, obviously I didn’t :rolleyes:

I ordered this on the 2nd November. I have had no certificate yet....Looking at my orders on the GRO it doesn't look like I'm going to get one. It says:-

So I guess that wasn't them and John Jones married Jane Williams

Has this marriage been investigated?

As you can see there is a postem next to John Charles' name - it confirms he married Caroline Ann Hale

I wonder why? Do they not have a record of the marriage? Both names check out with the transcription- it'd be a rare thing for both names to have an error on original unless the writing was so faded that a guess was made, twice. :(

Ooops Sorry -

I did try and find where the Roseber(r)y came from and the only thing I found was an Edward Raspberry Morris who married in 1871, but he was baptised as Edward Rusbatch Morriss on 26/2/1851 s/o John and Catherine in Bedwelty Monmouthshire

William's birth cert arrived today.

William Rosebery Jones
Born: 18th January 1895 at 9 Market Road, Canton, Cardiff.
Father : John Jones - Collector for sewing machine company
Mother: Margaret Jones formally Price

And there we have it, gets me no closer to finding John and Margaret's marriage.

I have a marriage cert for a John Jones to a Margaret Price of Trealaw, Pontypridd, this John says he's a Tailor. Trying to Stretch ' Collector for sewing machine company' to a Tailor would be a bit too far don't you think?

Just as an aside:

Opposite 9 Market Road, Canton is the Salem Chapel a Calvinistic Methodist chapel.

This marriage cert was for a marriage in Bethlehem Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, Pontypridd.

Not trying to talk myself into thinking it is the right marriage, just pointing it out.

William's father's professions

1895 - Collector for Sewing Machine Company

1901 - Mineral Water Haulier

1911 - Colliery Timberman Under-ground Repairer

1922 - Miner
