Holy Moly!! A fascinating ancestor!!

The story I heard is that he had 3 kids with wife number 1. Wife number 2 was the governess for those 3. Wife number 1 passed away. Number 2 birthed the other 5. Once the first 3 grew up and left, that's when number 2 became WIFE number 2 which then legitimized the other 5. Not sure how true that is but that's the "story".

No need of delicate, I’m quite fascinated by all these inside, outside offspring of numerous ‘wives’.

SUPER!! Lots of stories in the Islands.......the men usually came out without their wives to the tropics, so you know how the "boys will play", lol.

Good lord......8 kids? I am missing a couple!! :D But I think Jose Angel Figueroa has your Cookes beaten. 10 kids in 10 years with 5 different women.....only one wife. :p Plus his father had 3 "wives" and a few assorted children.....confusion reigns at times.

For our Aussie friends, I could use some help with tracking down Alec and Clare Feurtado. They moved out their for his job with Pan Am back in the 70s. They had a few kids and I would love to get back in touch with my cousins.

ed instead of trying to be "delicate".......this family does seem to have a lot of outside children. But w
Just some further notes to tidy up a couple of things as my internet crashed for 7 hours and I was in the middle of finding all the birth/death dates and places for the Cookes. Your man who built the Rookery was the only one born in Nantwich, England...I suspect he died in Westmoreland, Jamaica on a plantation called Chester Castle because that place is mentioned in the article on the Rookery....and his namesake son was born there. They had other "great houses"....one called the Hermitage and another called Windsor Forest. My husband has been in the Windsor Forest plantation house many times as he was friends with the Cooke boys. Huge place!!

Another little thing I found when I was looking at the death certificates is that the name was spelled "Hylton" with two of the oldest ones. It carries down with each generation as Hilton. It also might solve a mystery in Ron's Cooper family as well. Which I swore I would figure out some day.

Good grief.....I had no idea I knew that much about Aunt Hilda et al......but I figure I researched all of this info about 15 years ago and today the birth and death certificates are now on the LDS site so I added those. I am sure these truly are your unknown relatives, and it is an interesting saga of William Cooke coming to the Island and the many generations that did so well. Now I have to find Ron's Wilkin Cooper, lol. Same generation in England.

Night.....bedtime in Ontario. :D

I'm curious to know if you ever found anything out about Wilkin Cooper???

Still working on that. The original Raymond McIntosh relative that started this hunt just called me 2 weeks ago and said he had info on him, but my computer is acting up and I can't open his attachments with regard to Wilkin Cooper until I get this machine fixed. I will let you know........are you related?

I am indeed, and I'm also related to Raymond (though we've never met, but we did play phone tag recently).

I've never used this site before, but I will try to figure out how to share my email address with you. I would love to know more, and I've enjoyed reading your posts in this thread! Keep up the great work :)

Hi All!

I’m Zack. I’m a Figueroa, but I married my husband back in 2021 and took his last name.

I know this thread is super old. But, I think I have another puzzle piece for y’all.

My abuelo was Francis Warren Figueroa, born in Cuba and immigrated to Miami (then to New York shortly after; and back down to Miami years later).

I was super close with him and my Tia and they passed back in 2001 & 2002, respectively. My dad, Tia , and I are in the process of getting our Spanish Citizenship and I’ve been researching my Abuelo’s lineage.

His dad was Cecilio Alberto Jose Figueroa, born in Kingston Jamaica & his mother was Lillian Constance Alvaranga

He was one of 8 (Osvaldo, Edward Vincent, Victor Raymond, Cecil Mariano, Dorothy Eloisa, and Estelle Meredes “Mercy”).

He married Otilia Espina (born in Cuba/one of her parents was Spanish and left during the war). His dad was Cecilio Alberto Jose Figueroa, born in Kingston Jamaica & his mother was Lillian.

I think we might be related, lol? I figured I’d respond and say hi!
I’m soooo curious about my Abuelo’s history so any info you’re willing to share or ask me about!
