Tenacious to the End!
He was a translator of Roman literature such as Virgil, Juvenal etc. Two of his publishers were involved in a court case over copyright of his publications, this while he was in Dublin. He was declared bankrupt in 1866 (this in London) where he is described as "Author and Teacher of Languages"; he married in 1878 to Eliza Thornton.
This snip is from 4 Dec 1862 in Dorset. I do not know if he was in England at this time, but I do know he was in 1866. It has been transcribed as James Mongan, birthplace Kibinsh, Edmont, Ireland.
The name looks more like Mangan, the placename makes no sense; the only hope I have of tying it definitively or not to my person of interest is in the interpretation of the occupation "R.M.A. b. Compt"? Any ideas?
