Hi
I have just joined having seen an article about you in the Parish Chest newsletter. I set out about 2 years ago knowing nothing about my ancestors apart from my Mum and Dad and my Gran on my mothers side. I think it was really the fact that Mum had developed Alzheimers and I found all sorts of photos that I decided I wanted to know more.

Wow!! I was born in Sheffield Yorks but did not know that we lost close family and our our 2 Tilt and Forges in the Great Sheffield Flood of 1864, nor did I for one moment think it was possible to trace one direct line back 10 generations.

Obviously from NZ it has to all be done on the net but with help from good people on the way who knows where it will lead

Welcome Andrew.

Like you, I rely on the net as well. My mum got me hooked on this hobby about 15 or so years ago when she too was stricken with Alzheimers and dad asked me to help her.

This is a great forum, with wondefully, helpful members, so I think you'll have lotsa fun. Enjoy!!

Hello Andrew - welcome to Genealogy Specialists, aka Top Dog :)

I had the chance to visit New Zealand in October and loved every minute of it. Could you pop into your profile and enter the part of New Zealand in which you live in the Location box. That way we will remember that's where you are.

Have a good look round and post those questions and we will do all that we can to help.

Enjoy yourself as well! :D

One of my regrets is that we didn't look at photos with my mother-in-law who also developed Alzheimer's. My husband is the last of his family, so I don't suppose we'll ever know the people in all those albums.

Welcome to TG, Andrew. Lots of friendly and helpful people here. :)

Hi Andrew welcome to Top Dog. You will get loads of help on here, everyone goe's out of their way to help - they are a brilliant bunch.C|:-)

Hi

Just to make you more envious it is hot, sunny, forecast it might rain on Thursday or Friday but then it probably won't and our paddocks are brown.

I see you are in Pershore, great part of the country away from the ratrace.

Welcome Andrew C|:-), we would cheerfully exchange some of our rain for a few days of your sunshine!
Lots of folk here only too willing to help with your searches.

Welcome in Andrew, ...Wow indeed, can't wait to see you discover your family past on these pages.

Lived in Whangarei for a couple of years so use to go thru Helensville. Bet it is much bigger now!

It is a lovely part of the country - we are very lucky to be in the countryside.

Ohhh to have some lovely weather  Wettest January since records began and severe weather warnings for tomorrow! Just to top it off, middle son has to be in London tomorrow for Uni interview and there's a Tube strike :mad: We will have fun!!!

Hi, no sorry nothing in Essex all my Dentons back to John Denton 1777-1857 were involved with steel tilting and forging in the Loxley/Bradfield area just north west of Sheffield.
