NETHERTOWN of LOGIE

Hi I need some help understanding a baptism.

Crimond Register of Baptisms (this is Crimond in Aberdeenshire)
17 Aug 1817 (that's where the wife and children lived in census) and this is what is recorded:

William Dinnes in Nethertown of Logie had a daughter of his wife Ann Youngson and baptised named Christian. Witnesses James McLeod and George Robertson McLeod both in Logie.

What I need help on is:

I cannot find a Nethertown in Logie and the only Logie I can find is in Perthshire hundreds of miles away.
Was/is there a Nethertown or Logie near Crimond?
Both witnesses (no relation that I know of) were recorded as both in Logie. From the abode of the witnesses I expected to be able to find a Nethertown or Logie near Crimond for them to be the witnesses.

Really confused.

Hi,
I typed in Nethertown, Aberdeenshire in Google and found a post on Roots Chat also looking for Nethertown. The reply was that it was Netherton, which appears to be just off the A90 to the North West of Crimond. There is a strretmap map showing the area. Hope this is of some help.

Just looked at Google Maps and the road Crimond Church is on is Logie Avenue East.

Hi Glyn, The nearest Netherton I can find is near the village of Kenmay (closer to Aberdeen), miles from Crimond. I can't find a Logie other than the road. Why would the road be named Logie Avenue if there is no Logie nearby??? even more confused.

No wonder their website shows GPS co-ordinates, not on any map I have looked at, really strange.

Netherton is on this list of place names in Crimond, from the 1870 Ordnance Survey name book:

Though you need to be a subscriber or registered as a transcriber with Scotland's Places to see details from the name book, you can still click on the map link (last column) and then find Netherton and Logie marked on the 6-inch map there.

Only just home and had found Netherton of Logie Farm, but Huncamunca beat me to it. Glad you have found it!
