it looks like "ats" to me
I Googled and found this;
"Alias" or "Otherwise Called" (Names & Surnames)

How about John Harris alias (also known as) James?? I have several ancestors who have used two surnames with als linking them.

Is it Harry or Harris?
There is a dot above a legter.

I think it is HARRIS. If you look at the "s" in ats or als it is identical to the last letter of the surname HARRIS and there is a dot above the i.
