It can be very difficult to track your people prior to the first census in 1841, other than the parish baptism, marriage and death records.
You could try newspapers, criminal/apprentice records etc. but generally there will be little out there, other than marriage and children's baptisms. You may be lucky and find him as a witness to a sibling's marriage. I seem to remember Thomas was an ag lab, so unlikely to have any records:(.
