Both the sets of facts you alluded to should give me plenty of material to play with. What a convoluted trail between the old place names and the eventual surnames! I wouldn't have thought of any of this myself- thanks heaps. Shurlacares to the front of the pack.Have you considered all the Shurlacare names in every form in Lancashire.,heaps of them but not a Churlacare in sight. I think the name is Shurlacare. Elizabeth is Shurlacre at her marriage in 1559. Born and died the same years as you have Elizabeth Churlacare. Also some research has……..Sherliker= from the lost place name Shurlacres, Halsall Lancs.
