You and me bothI thought Sawyer at first. The tail on the “y” bothers me. It looks more like the “z” in the Elizabeth further down the page. I’ve been trying (without success) to find an occupation in the leather trade which would fit “S**z*r”.
I think it ends with "ze (or o)r". I'm not even convinced that the first letter is an S - it looks remarkably like the F in Fellmonger a few lines above, but that makes even less sense Going along these lines, I wonder if it could be a Friezor? I like your thinking, I wonder if it could have anything to do with suede, I know that's the soft underside of a hide, but maybe a leather worker might have to do something to the nap......
