Who wants to tackle this couple for me in Australia?

There is a funeral notice in the Sydney Morning Herald dated 26 Oct 1891 for Mrs. Ann Trethowan. Children mentioned are Priscilla and Alice, William and Charles.

Lots of other family notices. I will keep looking.

From Find My Past, I have a Cemetery Inscription [transcript] from Rockwood Cemetery, Sydney for an Ann Trethowan whose birth date 24 10 1836 and who died 24 October 1891. Her age was 55.

From the details of the marriage [see post #1] she was aged 16.

I have not found any likely births for these offspring from FMP. That doesn't mean they don't exist some where else.

o.k., I wasn't able to download the file but I found it at Pandora Australia's Web Archive. It is associated with the National Library of Australia. I went to the First Families Section and went through the alphabetical list of names.

I will send you a broken link. With a bit of luck you will find it.

http://pandora.nla.gov. au/tep/10421

I hope that you find it. I am a member of the national library, but I think that you should be able to access the file without being a member.

Let me know how you go. If you have problems I will attempt to print out the document and e-mail it to you.

James Cock Trethowan was the 2nd of 9 children of James and Jane Trethowan of Constantine, Cornwall who were married 11 June 1833.

This bloke had a brother named Henry Iconium Trethowan baptised in Constantine 2 June 1839.

He was with his parents, brother James Cock and several other siblings in the 1851 census.

It is possible that Henry came to Australia at about the same time - Dec. 1858 - when James Cock arrived, however there is only a transcription of the passenger list on FMP and there is no record of Henry's arrival, however events following proved that he did arrive sometime:
1] He married Susan Ann Richards in 1867 - registration #1445 - possibly in Creswick, Victoria.
2] He and Susan Ann had 5 children:
Albert Henry - 1868 - Creswick - #2050
Alfred James - 1869 - Crewsick - #21740
Lambert William - 1871 - Bung - #21807
Henrietta Emily - 1872 - Bung - #21822
Frederick Herbert - 1875 - Bung - #899
3] Susan Ann died 1875 - possibly in Bung - registration #825.

With 5 young children Henry immediately married [1875] Agnes Wilhmeiner[sic] Anderson - #3694. I have not found the births of any children nor have I found a death for Agnes, however in 1887 he married Bessie Sutcliffe - #2363.
I have absolutely no info whatsoever on these 2 ladies.

Henry Iconium can be found in 1909 Electoral Rolls in Echuca, Victoria and I believe he died in 1910 age 72 - source - Australia, Death Index 1787-1985.

Any help on him would be appreciated

Thanks Terry. On the surface it doesn't look like my Ann but possibly the transcription or the details from the "outstation" of Mr. Tilley were incorrectly entered.

With the son James born 1876 [see post #4] and the Emma Elizabeth [see post 3] as well as the 4 children [see post #20] the only one I can feel comfortable with is the James from post #4 and after that item there is nothing I can find about him.

Can anyone find the others to prove/disprove the connection?

Hope I'm not bursting your bubble but hints on Geni have Emma Trethowan married to Benjamin Bowden the daughter of George Trethowan.

Found a few more tid bits for Emma Elizabeth Trethowan and Herbert Richard Hams. Can't find a marriage anywhere but Herbert was the son of John Wickens Hams and Jane Ackland. He was born in South Australia in 1869 and died in Victoria in 1959. Some deaths found for Ethel May d/o Herbert and Emma 1912 Victoria, Walter George 1909 Victoria.
Births Edgar William 1899, father is given as Robert Richard and Emma. Arthur Stanley 1897 Herbert Jonathon 1895
John Wickens Hams drowned in 1934 in the Brisbane River. Queensland.

Emma Elizabeth Ham/s died in Fairfield Victoria on 8 October 1950 wife of Herbert Richard Hams and the names of children mentioned match those in above post.
A Herbert Hams lost his arm in a chaffcutter in 1905. Not sure if it is the same one though.
