Yes the line being followed is correct. John knows his sister Lil was 14 years older than him so has difficulty understanding how he came to be placed in the workhouse with his mother? He really wants to find out when Mabel was placed in the workhouse

Just reread your post as I was about to leave Jules, is Lil in fact his sister or his AUNT as you suggested in your 3rd post #5 or was that a typo?

I'd think Mabel was probably in the workhouse for delivery of her baby who was to be adopted- for whatever reason,.perhaps Mabel wasn't in good health..still possible that a Family member in fact adopted John. he can help with his knowledge of who raised him, (that doesn't have to be made public if he doesn't wish to.)

The last website I mentioned may be of help with this.
ciao for now

Also a relative did come to collect john from Lichfield childrens home when he was old enough to work and earn money. They didnt however visit before this time. John does recollect his mother visiting at the home however with biscuits every now and again but has no memory of knowing she was his mother

The lines followe above are def correct and it would fit that John changed his surname at 14 when he was taken in by an aunt although she had not remained in contact with him throughout his childhood. It is interesting also that Johns wife Margaret nee Gough also has a Boulter lineage so they must somehow be distant relatives. Please bear with me as I am really sruggling to collate all of the info and obviously Johns memory is a little shaded x x

Jules, are you a member of Genes Reunited? People there have added a Sarah Ann Parry & William Parry of correct birth years to their Family lines.
May be worth a contact to see if they can help with early years.

If not, I could try contact for you if you wish.

Thank you so much Wendy. I am not a member but looked into it and it was going to be too expensive for me to join. Any Further info you can help with is very much appreciated Thank you x x

Will so do Jules, mind that there isn't always an answer as people go offline or on holidays or...?
We can only try,..they may even be different Family lines, which often get mixed up.
Hang in there.

I have just found this site too - having received a message via Genes Reunited. I think I can help with the Mabel Parry story but first must read all the posts and consult my file! Let me know if you still need help. Mabel Parry is distantly related to me although not directly.

Oh this news has really made my day. I have just spoken to john to update him so far and he is delighted that for the first time in his life he is getting snippets of information about his past. Yes please I do need your help and desperately want to find John answers to his history (he is now 86 and not in good health) It would be more than he ever expected to be able to find out about his mother Mabel. Thank you so much

Do get in touch with Linda via email if possible, so much easier than somethings being online which maybe shouldn't. Cosier too. :)
