The will of John Mitchel, Clerk, of Atherstone, Warwickshire was proved in the PCC on 23 Apr 1846 - could this be him, and he lived out of his parish?

The will is quite long and detailed, and I may not have time to get right through it, but he does seem to have had London connections. In the bit I did have time for, I didn't see any mention of anyone called King.

MollyMay and Arthur.....you are amazing!....I must admit that the marriage looks very probably the right one!....and certainly the the baptisms are for the "3 graces", the middle one, Elizabeth Ann King, married Dr Samuel Smith Millar was my 2x gr grandmother. The reason I was skeptical was that I thought it unlikely that the first 2 boys would have been born out of wedlock....
    FYI, the 3 boys are:
Thomas Harper King, born Oct 13, 1822
Charles King, born May 27, 1824 and
    John King, born in 1825
Here is a photograph of an original drawing done in about 1826 of, I believe Elizabeth King, nee Wilshin and her 2 younger boys, Charles King and John King. Funny how they dressed boys up to look like girls in those days! Now I have to find John King's baptism! I have more photos of her and William King in old age if anyone is interested!

I still think that Daniel and Mary Wilshin are the most likely parents......and though I have been proved wrong on lots of other things (!), I still think that her birth year was likely to be 1797....and could have been baptized a bit later.....my project when I get home!!....
    Cheers!

    Harrow including Pinner: Manors.
    MARLPITS
    (last paragraph)
'Although Marlpits Manor was freehold it was intermingled with copyhold lands all of which were remodelled to form Waldo's Farm. When this was sold in 1817 it included fields called Marlpits, Lye Field and Broad Field. As part of the farm, Marlpits was sold by Charles Waldo to Daniel Dancer. It passed in 1794 to Henry and Mary Sayer and in 1817 to Daniel Wilshin'

Quite a few Wilshins around Pinner.
Ancestry Message boards has a James Wilshin of Pinner marring Ann Horn 1795, Westminster St James. I wonder if this James is the brother of Daniel.
    Also part of a tree,
    Jason Wilshin 1759-1819
    Danniel Wilshin of Ruislipp 1730-1796,
His father Daniel Wilshin (Ruislipp) 1696-1767
    His father Daniel Wilshin 1683-1735
So it seems that Daniel is a family name around Pinner/Ruislipp

I wonder if we may be barking up the wrong tree here.
William King and Elizabeth Wilshin were married in 1825, but the eldest Thomas HARPER King was born in 1822.
Do you know where the HARPER comes from?
Could this not be Elizabeth's previous name? Either maiden or previous marriage.?
Was Thomas Harper King 1822 (died 1864) the nephew of Thomas Harper King?
Related to Thomas King of Camden Calvert and King, contractors of the Third Fleet and also slave traders?

Good idea, Sue....but in this case the Harper came from William King's grandfather on his mother's side. William King's father, Thomas King (1749-?) was a partner in a trading company/ merchants called Camden, Calvert & King. Thomas King married Sarah Hall (1758-?), from a family of merchants from Barbados, on 14th October, 1780 at St Olave, Hart Street, City of London. Her father was Harper Hall, of Bridgetown, Barbados who died there on July 22, 1759 and mother was Jane Lewis (d 1768 in Bridgetown, Barbados). They had only married in 1757, and Jane had a son swell, also Harper Hall , born Nov 5th, 1759, about 4 months after his father's death and died, unmarried on August 19th, 1788 and buried at Stoke Newington, Middx. Interestingly, Thomas King's father was called Newark King, of Lofthouse, Yorks, died 6th March, 1785, aged about 68, buried at Skelton, Yorks.
Annoyingly, I have a lot on the King's written by someone in 1815, just before William King was married! William King's siblings were Thomas Harper King (1781-?); Anthony Calvert king (1786-?); George King (1787-); Henry King (1794-?) and Sarah Amelia (1791-?) who married Thomas Pendarves Smith.
Hope this isn't too much info!!!....
