Frampton, Dorset - Parish registers

My current attempt is Ha??e, and either of your suggestions is possible. I haven't come across any other Hayne or Hague in Frampton, and I don't think it is safe to plump for one over the other without something further as back upo_O, essentially I cannot read it as it is obscured, so maybe I should stick with my conservative transcription ...

Thanks for trying:)

I'll move straight on to the next challenge, what day was he buried and what can you tell me about it?

According to Ancestry's Dorset BMD's there were Haynes's in Frampton in the 1600's :)

I want to see following, but like you see Rollen(r)y. I have been trying to fined a feast/saints day that looks anything like that without any luck.

Having looked again, I want to see following too.....my eyes saw what they wanted (more haste less speed) now I don't know what to make of it

Since "Rollery Day" is a mystery, I'll leave the transcription as is but with big question mark

Marriages now, and a delightful variety of spelling, including what I assume is a contraction 'maring' for marrying (?)

Anyway have been puzzling over this particular format of wording for a while, but think I have finally got it, just running it past you

William Blandimore the one p[ar]te And
Margerett Pope the other p[ar]te
both of this p[ar]ish these Two partyes
were Married the 25th Day of December

(and now I've sorted that I think I can go to sleep :), just don't want to wake up to find I am wrong )

That's what I would read it as - don't you just love the abbreviation for parish.....

I woke up in the night and the first thing which came to mind was Rollery (or whatever) Day - must get out more

Thanks Ann :)

Think I am finally getting to grips with old handwriting  A year ago I wouldn't have been able to read more than one or two words, and would have been too scared to try ...

I know just what you mean - it is amazing how you can 'get used' to the writing in old documents - providing you persevere......and no-one can accuse you of not persevering ;)

I found the same with PCC wills, the more you look at them, the more you can read them - or, at least, pick out the bits that matter

and we cannot be made to answer for the writing of some of these clerics etc..
their descendants are probably Doctors who still have hand writing to match.!

'tis why I avoid the early baptisms, don't have the time or patience to play with them, even with new specs.

Ancestry have Swattereg for the bride's surname; I have Swatter?a --- I don't think the last letter is a g there's just a bit of a smudge (but I might be wrong); all ideas gratefully received

I can see Swatte.... but then there could be an re or ne and the last letter could be almost anything - except I do agree that the 'tail' looks more like a smudge that part of the letter :(
