1) You are not wasting anyone's time (well, certainly not mine) as I quite look forward to the Frampton mysteries!
2) Yes, you should, but it is always nice to get a second, third or whatever opinion if in doubt :) After all, you could now be considered to be an expert on the handwriting of early Frampton clerics :cool:

well, Mr 'Petter' Banger is now being referred to as Minister of this place rather than merely (a) Vicar, so after he was at Charminster and Stratton he must have gone to Frampton ... strange that the CCE database didn't seem to know that (or I misread it):rolleyes:
 
Here is the son of the 'Lord of the Manor' Mr Brown(e) Esq of Frampton Court getting baptised

if he's anything like his sister he is not getting baptised in Frampton, but elsewhere, and note is being made in the Frampton PRs

The entry does seem to say that he was "baptized at [elsewhere]" but where?

initial thoughts were Potsdam!!:rolleyes:, Pilsdon and Port(e/i)sham; then I thought that word could even begin with an F ...

[edit] sister Elizabeth was baptised at St Mary's Blandford, I guess Robert wasn't o_O

I don't think that Forston is/was a parish in it's own right, but may have had a chapel -- trying to look into that now ...

what a complicated document, do those Brownes belong with my Frampton Brownes, or not? I might try to read it again, or I might just wipe it from my mind ... :confused:
 
Have whizzed through the C17, trawling back through looking for niggles that I identified but didn't ask about here at the time

ok, this poor babe got squeezed in between two others and slightly mangled/distorted/illegible thanks to that

what I have is : -- William Banton the sone of Thomas Banton and Jud??a his wife was Baptized 14 day of ????????


There are two Thomas Bantons baptising children around this time, the elder and the younger, usually the wives have not been named, but one of them (don't know which one) baptises another William in 1675 and I think his wife is named Juda

Knowing of Juda lead me to see Jud??a where previously I had [illegible] but can we make that more of a name and less of a guess, please

Also I have put 14 for the date, but it could just as easily say 21 or 1st, any thoughts?

month? assuming he is squeezed into the right space it must be October but can anyone manage to see October?

[edit] FamilySearch has both Judyea and Judges as the mother's name, and 4 and 14 for the day; Ancestry has Fanes for the mother and 21 for the day

Sorry I cannot make out the name - but it looks like Judgea
21 for the date, but cannot make October out for the month, although it really ought to be or there would be no reason to squash it in where it is.

I have been giving this a lot of thought and have made the following decisions:

1. since none of the dates I think it might be really fit in between 4 and 10 so I think I am just going to put [illegible], and
2. go for [October] as logical but not legible, and
3. I prefer Judyea (?) over Judges or Judgea mainly as the sound would be more in keeping with the Juda I found later

Will add the alternative Ancestry & FamilySearch transcripts into my notes, hope that seems reasonable :)
 
Next one is a couple of baptisms later, again squeezed in and hard to read:

After Hugh Huxford's son was Baptized the 3 Day of November

William ???? the son of William ???? and Elizabeth his wife was baptized the 3 Day ?????????????????????????????

again logic dictates that this really should be November

My main problem is the surname, is it WHITTE or WHITLE or something else?
 
These are really testing, not helped by the texture of the paper being so evident in the scan.
I think Whitle, strange to have the space after 'Whit' and before the 'le' on both son and father's name, but cannot make out the month at all - logically November, but illegible.
